- Best for
- Expat families, dog owners
- 2-bed condo
- ~RM3,000 – 5,500
- Train
- None in the township
- To KLCC by car
- 20–30 min off-peak
In short
- Planned township around a lake and Central Park.
- International school inside. Family units go fast.
- Known as one of KL's most dog-friendly places.
- Downside: no train. You'll need a car.
The vibe
Desa ParkCity is a master-planned township in north-west Kuala Lumpur, built by Perdana ParkCity from the late 1990s on the site of a former quarry. The whole place is designed around The Central Park, with a lake, lawns and jogging paths, and most homes are a short walk from it.
Weekends are busy with families, cyclists and dogs. The park and many of the cafés around it welcome pets, which is rare in KL and a big reason expats choose it. The feel is quieter and more suburban than Mont Kiara, about 15–25 minutes away.
Who it suits
- Expat families, especially with children at the international school in the township.
- Dog owners who want a park on the doorstep. Pet rules still vary by building and landlord, so check first.
- People who drive and want green space and a community feel more than a short commute.
It suits you less if you'll rely on trains every day, or if your budget is under about RM3,000 a month for a 2-bedroom.
Typical rents
| Home type | Typical range | Notes |

Getting around
Public transport
There's no train station inside Desa ParkCity. The nearest MRT Putrajaya Line stations, such as Sri Damansara Timur (linked by bridge to KTM Kepong Sentral) and Kepong Baru, are a short drive or e-hail away. In practice most residents drive, and many families run two cars.
Driving and traffic
The township connects to the LDP, MRR2, DUKE and SPRINT. KLCC is about 20–30 minutes off-peak and can take 30–60 minutes at peak times. Expect queues around the school run and on the surrounding highways.
Tip
Do your commute once at the time you'd actually travel before you commit, especially if you're heading into the city centre every day.
Schools
The International School @ ParkCity (British curriculum, ages 3–18) is inside the township, so many families can walk or cycle to school. Several other international schools, including Garden International School and Mont'Kiara International School, are roughly 3 km away in and around Mont Kiara.
Shopping, food and daily life
- The Waterfront@ParkCity: restaurants and cafés facing the lake, plus a Village Grocer supermarket.
- Plaza Arkadia: offices, shops, cafés and a supermarket.
- ParkCity Medical Centre: a private hospital inside the township.
- Mont Kiara and Damansara: bigger malls are about a 15–25 minute drive away.
Pros and cons
What's good
- Large park and lake at the centre
- Very dog-friendly by KL standards
- School, hospital and shops in the township
- Safe, gated, community feel
What to weigh up
- No train, so you'll need a car
- Peak-hour and school-run traffic
- Rents carry a premium
- New phases still under construction
My tips for renting here
- Check the pet rules in writing. The township is dog-friendly, but each condo sets its own rules and each landlord decides.
- Ask about construction nearby. New phases are still being built, so check what's going up next to the unit.
- Start early for school-year moves. Family units near the school go fast before each new term.
- Count your parking. Confirm how many bays come with the unit if you'll run two cars.
